Shock in the Iranian leadership

The supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, unexpectedly removed from his position Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary General of the Supreme Security Council, who is considered one of the most important figures in the decision-making system in Iran.
Admiral Ali Akbar Ahmadian, an officer from the Revolutionary Guards, was appointed in his place. The exchange will not lead to a change in Iran’s policy.
