The assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran has triggered a battle for succession within the organization.
Khaled Mashal, who previously held this position for many years, is the leading candidate to replace him.
Mashal is reportedly at odds with Yahya Sinwar, and according to Hamas sources, he will attempt to neutralize Sinwar’s influence.
