In the last month, about 30 rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, the terrorist organizations have returned to the policy of launching the rockets and warming up the area for a major security escalation towards the month of Ramadan.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad are not interested in a new round of fighting now in the Gaza Strip, but they are also preparing for the possibility that they will be forced to back the new intifada they are initiating in the West Bank and East Jerusalem within the framework of the principle they established in May 2021 of unifying all the fronts, this means firing rockets from the Gaza Strip towards Israel and the danger of a new round of fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Their current strategy is to push the residents of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Israeli Arabs into a new armed intifada in the coming weeks.
Saleh Al-Aruri, the deputy chairman of the Hamas movement, explained, in a speech he delivered on February 13 at the National Conference in Support of the Palestinian People, Hamas’ strategy.
According to him, the Palestinians are at the beginning of a sacred and important strategic campaign and the international conditions are now suitable to escalate the armed resistance and fight with firearms against the Israeli occupation.
He explained that although the world is busy with the war in Ukraine, the Palestinian resistance will place the world on the brink of regional danger and it will be forced to deal with the Palestinian problem reluctantly.
Saleh Al-Aruri made it clear that the Israeli Arabs will have a part in the armed resistance to Israel and said:
The Palestinian people in the occupied interior are part of the sacred Palestinian problem, the campaign will be imposed on them and they will participate in all the battles.
A senior Hamas official says that the last war in the Gaza Strip in May 2021 proved that Israeli Arabs are the Achilles heel of the Jewish state,
they managed to surprise the Israeli security forces in the Arab settlements and also in the mixed cities.
This time, too, Hamas is planning a multi-arena campaign against Israel in which Israeli Arabs will play an important role, even though Israel has already prepared for this possibility and has begun establishing a special force called the National Guard to deal with incidents of violence in the Arab sector and the mixed cities.
Muhammad Sinwar, a senior commander in the military wing of Hamas and the brother of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, recently said that Hamas’s working assumption is that the entire Palestinian people will participate in the next war against Israel.
Gaza is like Lod and Jenin, Jaffa is like Rafah and the Galilee is like Hebron and Jerusalem is the crown of Palestine, he said.
The focus on East Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the match that is supposed to light the fire again among the Palestinians and among the Arabs of Israel, even if they hesitate to participate in the violent events, Hamas plans to force it on them through its incitement and propaganda system and they will not be able to stand back.
Therefore, Hamas and Islamic Jihad encourage the attacks in East Jerusalem and call on the media and social networks for individual Palestinians to go out and carry out attacks against Israeli targets.
As soon as Jerusalem will be on fire it will be very easy for Hamas to ignite additional fronts against Israel, at the same time emphasis will be placed this time on increasing the attempts to kidnap Israeli soldiers and civilians in order to improve Hamas’s chances of promoting a new prisoner exchange deal with Israel and imposing its conditions on it.
