Terrorism is getting stronger in the Nablus and Jenin areas

The security policy of the Lapid-Ganz government against the wave of terrorism in the West Bank has failed and new terrorist groups are emerging in the field. The Netanyahu government must change the security strategy to prevent a new armed intifada.

The IDF and the Shin Bet inflicted a heavy blow to the terror group
Lion’s Den In Nablus but were unable
to stop the phenomenon, the group continues to operate and announced that it was involved in the shooting that took place this week towards IDF forces that brought a group of members of the Knesset from the right-wing camp to Yosef’s Tomb in Nablus.

In Nablus there is also a terrorist group called “Nablus Battalion” and recently another terrorist group called “Balata Battalion” was established
which is active in the Balata refugee camp.
At the same time a new terrorist group was also formed in the Jenin refugee camp called
.”The Wasp’s Nest”
“Balata Battalon” group was formed mainly to confront the IDF forces and the settlers who entered Yosef’s tomb in Nablus. One of its members, Mahdi al-Hashash, was killed this week by an IDF force that entered Yosef’s tomb in Nablus.
Most of the members of this group are from the Fatah movement and they also have a connection to the “Lion’s Den” group.

The decrease in the number of terrorist attacks in recent days is only temporary, security officials in Israel estimate that terrorist activity in the West Bank will increase in the coming days in preparation for the establishment of the new right-wing government in Israel, the terrorist organizations will try to challenge the Netanyahu government.

The trend of the terrorist organizations is to form groups of armed terrorists in every city and refugee camp in the West Bank so that they can carry out attacks against the IDF forces and the settlers, behind this idea is the Islamic Jihad organization that came up with the idea after the escape of 6 The terrorists from Gilboa prison and were joined by the other Palestinian factions with the goal of bringing about an armed intifada.

The terrorist organizations try to maintain the momentum of the terrorist wave and pour a lot of money to the new armed groupe to that they can
purchase weapons and uniforms.

When they are not carrying out attacks, the new terrorist groups engage in military parades and training to encourage the idea of resistance to Israel and recruit new members to their ranks.

The PA still has a security presence in the city of Nablus, but the establishment of additional armed groups by the terrorist organizations challenges the PA and Israel, It emphasizes that the IDF’s arrest operation is not enough to stop the terror wave and that amajor military operation is needed in northern West bank to eliminate the hundreds of armed terrorists who are also planning attacks inside Israel itself.

The Shin Bet revealed this week that 3 terrorists were captured from the city of Nablus with weapons who were planning to carry out a major attack to avenge the death of the terrorist Ibrahim al-Nabolsi in the city of Nablus who was killed by the IDF and was one of the leaders of the group. ” Lions’ Den”

They received assistance from an Islamic Jihad operator from the Gaza Strip to purchase the weapons.
The new Minister of Defense in the Netanyahu government will have to reevaluate the security policy in the West Bank and change the strategy, which has been proven to be insufficient to stop the new wave of terrorism

Lapid and Gantz was afraid of the reactions of the Biden administration and the Palestinian Authority and avoided taking a iron hand policy against the terrorist wave, this is interpreted as a weakness by the terrorist organizations that take advantage of this for the purpose of strengthening and building new terrorist groups in the field.

The renewal of the policy of targeted killings was also only symbolic step and the IDF and the Shin Bet used it only once in the Nablus to assassinate a senior terrorist from the Lion’s Den group.
The use of this tool should be increased and this is subject to the decision of the political echelon.
