The Israeli Mossad assassinated a senior Iranian officer in Damascus

In Damascus, a senior Iranian officer who was involved in smuggling advanced weapons from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon was assassinated. Iran accuses the Israeli Mossad of killing him and promises revenge, the move to kill senior Iranian officers in Syria is an escalation of Israel's secret war against the Iranian military presence in Syria.

Israel is increasing the war against the Iranian military presence in Syria, not only through aerial bombings of Iranian targets but also in a secret war against senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards who are engaged in smuggling advanced weapons to the Hezbollah organization in Lebanon.

The Revolutionary Guards issued an official statement this week in which they accused Israel of killing a senior Iranian officer in the organization’s air wing using a powerful side bomb that exploded at his car while he was driving in Damascus.

.
Along with him, his personal security guard who was with him in the car he was traveling in was also killed.

The officer who was killed was Colonel Daoud Jaafari, according to security sources in Israel, he was one of Iran’s military advisers in Syria, but he was secretly involved in coordinating the transfer of weapons shipments from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon through Syria and was a senior member of the Iranian UAV production system.

Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its responsibility for the assassination of Jaafari, but the Revolutionary Guards promised revenge and that the “Zionist enemy would pay the price”.

Jaafari was buried after a dignified funeral in Tehran attended by the commander of the Revolutionary Guards, General Hossein Salami.

The Iranian news agency “Maher” announced last August that Colonel Abu Alfadel Alijani , another adviser to the Revolutionary Guards in Syria was killed without giving details about the circumstances of his death.

Sources in the Iranian opposition said that he was engaged in infantry training for the Iranian militias and that he was killed in one of the bombings of the Israeli Air Force in Syria.

Iran claims that it does not have any military presence in Syria except for a few senior officers who are engaged in security advice to the Syrian army at its request on issues of war on terror.

If indeed Israel is responsible for the assassination of Colonel Daoud Jaafari, then it is an escalation of Israeli activity against the Iranian military presence in Syria and moving to the physical assassination of senior officers of the Revolutionary Guards staying in Syria.

This is another step designed to assist in operations to prevent the transfer of advanced weapons from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon, which indicates an extensive intelligence infrastructure and operational capability of the Israeli Mossad to operate within Damascus itself.

The assassination of a senior Iranian officer in the heart of the Syrian capital requires very precise intelligence and high execution ability.

Iran is very concerned about Israeli intelligence infiltration into the Revolutionary Guards and suspects that the Israeli Mossad managed to recruit senior Iranian officers to spy for it.

Iran is supplying advanced weapons to the Hezbollah organization in Lebanon in order to strengthen its military power and tighten the stranglehold around Israel using rockets, precision missiles and UAVs.

The switch to the method of assassinations of senior Iranian officers in Syria is another attempt by Israel to deter Iran from continuing its military activities in Syria , but it is doubtful if this will help, the Iranians are determined to continue the task they have undertaken and are encouraged by their new alliance with Russia, which needs their military assistance for the war in Ukraine, this means that Israel will continue attacks on Iranian targets in Syria and the assassinations of senior Iranian officers who are engaged in smuggling weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
