The PA chairman buried the negotiation option with Israel

PA sources say that the goal of the PA chairman is to try and turn the issue of the "Israeli occupation" into a UN legal issue and not a political issue that should be resolved through negotiations between Israel and the PA. Abu Mazen is working to force Israel to withdraw to the 67 lines including in Jerusalem, without negotiation, through the UN.

The official Palestinian television in Ramallah broadcast a recorded speech by PA Chairman Abu Mazen on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Fatah movement on January 1.

In his speech, Abu Mazen promised “to fail all the plans of the Netanyahu government just as the Palestinians failed President trump “Deal of the Century”
and this through a firm stand of the Palestinian people on their land”, peace, according to Abu Mazen, “will only be realized after the Palestinian people receive their full rights according to the resolutions of the United Nations and its institutions”.

The PA is very satisfied with the success of the Palestinian move in the General Assembly, the UN arena will become in the coming months an arena of hard struggle, the Palestinians will appeal to the 25 countries that voted against the resolution with a request that they not submit any opinion to the Hague Tribunal supporting Israel’s position.

Senior officials in the PA say that this is the new game of Abu Mazen who has lost all confidence in the Israeli governments and does not believe that any of them are really interested in negotiations with the PA.

He does not see any point in renewing the negotiations, as far as he is concerned, the US and Israel are consistently thwarting his demand for the convening of an international peace conference led by the Quartet.

His trend is to try and turn the issue of the Israeli occupation into a legal problem of the UN and not a political issue that should be resolved through political negotiations between Israel to the Palestinian Authority.

By referring to the Court of Justice in The Hague, he sees a legitimate way to free himself from the Israeli demand supported by many countries in the world to hold direct negotiations with Israel on the solution of the Palestinian problem
Rather , he seeks to get a court decision that will be a document that will be formulated by the Palestinians and will become “sacred” and must be implemented.

Abu Mazen’s trend is to force Israel, through a legal opinion he will receive from the International Court of Justice and through the United Nations, to withdraw to lines 67, including in Jerusalem.

Even though the General Assembly is a body that is hostile to Israel, a body that has already made about 800 resolutions of its own
, there are still countries that support the demand for direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority in order to reach a political agreement that is desirable to both parties,

The Chairman of the PA wants to bury the negotiation option deep in the ground, he claims that the negotiations from the Oslo agreement until today have been fruitless and have not resulted in any real results and that the time has come to force the agreement on Israel through the United Nations, an agreement that will “restore the Palestinians to their national honor after the shame of the Oslo Agreement”.

That is where Abu Mazen is headed, who is now trying to convince the Biden administration and the EU countries to try and follow his path.

This move by the PA chairman challenges the Netanyahu government and the Biden administration, the world is currently preoccupied with the crisis in Ukraine and the new axis of Russia, China and Iran against the USA, Abu Mazen is trying to trap the Netanyahu government by taking the initiative and turning to the international institutions, Israel will also have to change its attitude towards the Palestinian Authority due to its new approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
