The wave of terrorism in the West Bank will continue

The Lions' Den group in Nablus is in an operational and morale crisis following the assassinations by the IDF and the Shin Bet, but it is determined to continue the attacks. The wave of terrorism is expected to continue even after the elections and the terrorist organizations will try to challenge the new government that will be established in Israel.

The attack in Kiryat Arba in which an Israeli citizen was murdered and five other civilians were wounded by a Hamas terrorist from the Hebron area, symbolizes the continuation of the wave of terrorism and its spread from the north of the West Bank to the south.

In the meantime, the tight blockade imposed by the IDF on the city of Nablus has continued for more than two weeks.

The cracks in the Lions’ Den group in the city of Nablus, which led to the fact that 6 members of the group, led by Mahmoud Albana, who is described as the brains of the group, turned themselves in to the PA, creating confusion in the street Palestinian, but the Lions’ Den group claims that it is still functioning despite the blows it received from the IDF and Shin Bet.

In in its ranks there are dozens of armed activists who will “continue on the path of resistance that cannot be uprooted”.

The IDF raid on the apartment in the old city of Nablus, which was also used as a laboratory for the preparation of explosive devices, was a severe operational and morale blow to the group that is now trying to recover and rehabilitate.

The families of some of the group’s members continue to exert heavy pressure on them to hand themselves over to the PA so that they will not be killed by the IDF.

A statement published by the Lions’ Den group
on October 28, said that “the resistance will continue” and that the group would not give up and “will continue on its way until the last of the fighters”.

The group boasted that “the settlers’ roads were empty and they were under siege in their homes in the settlements for fear of attacks by the Lions’ Den group”.

The Israeli security system announced that it would gradually lift the blockade over the city of Nablus, but the attack at the end of last week at the Hawara checkpoint near the city of Nablus, which was carried out by 2 terrorists who are members of the Palestinian Authority’s Civil Defense, proves that it will be very difficult for Israel to lift the blockade over the city of Nablus, the purpose of which is to prevent terrorists from leaving the city and carrying out attacks on the main roads against Israelis .

While the IDF and the Shin Bet are intensively engaged in fighting against the terrorist group in Nablus, the Islamic Jihad tried to expand its military grip on the northern West Bank.

According to security sources in Israel, the Islamic Jihad tried to establish a new terrorist organization in the village of Jabba in the Jenin area called the “Jabba Battalion”.

Israel’s security forces entered the village of Jabba last week and made a series of arrests, including two security personnel from the PA.

The Islamic Jihad’s plan was for the new terrorist group to carry out shooting attacks on Israeli targets in the Jenin and Nablus areas.

The popular glory of the Lions’ Den group from Nablus leads to the opening of an internal competition between the terrorist organizations to establish new terrorist groups in the West Bank that will also gain fame and the support of the Palestinian street.

Israel’s return to the method of targeted assassinations in the West Bank and the renewal of the IDF’s raids on terrorist targets deep in the territory will not stop the wave of terrorism in the absence of a new political horizon.

These actions are aimed at thwarting specific attacks and cannot solve the problem.

The phenomenon of armed resistance to Israel is expanding in the West Bank is receiving great popular support on the Palestinian street.

It was enough to see last week tens of thousands of residents in the city of Nablus who came to attend the funerals of the members of the Lions’ Den groupwho were killed in the IDF raid in the Kasbah of the city of Nablus.

The targeted killings carried out by the IDF And the Shin Bet neutralizes terrorists who are defined as “ticking bombs”, but on the other hand they increase popular anger and the desire for revenge.

The idea of armed resistance to Israel is getting stronger and it is alive and kicking with daily attacks and the hatred towards it and the Palestinian Authority is increasing.

The Knesset elections also play an important role in the current wave of terrorism, the Palestinians are convinced that a large part of the harsh military conduct against them on the part of Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz is intended for political purposes in order to gain more votes among the Israeli public before the elections.

As far as the Palestinians are concerned, “the Palestinian blood has become a victim in the Israeli election system and this is very dangerous”, says a senior Fatah official in Nablus.

Israel is going into a difficult security period in the near future in the West Bank territories, the wave of terrorism will continue, if a right-wing government comes to power as a result of the Knesset elections, the Palestinian terrorist organizations will try to challenge it through the increase in attacks.

The individual attacks are not expected to stop either, since 2015 this idea has deepened and taken root in the Palestinian street with the encouragement of social media, stabbing and trampling attacks have become popular to vent anger and frustration and allow Palestinians to become “Tik Tok heroes”.
